The two worst point differentials in the AFC belong to the two teams tied for last in the AFC South. The 1-4 Houston Texans sit at minus-38 through five games, while the Jacksonville Jaguars -- also 1-4 -- have a differential of minus-52. The two teams play one another Sunday needing a win to climb out of the cellar.
Fantasy football advice, Week 6: Who to start/sit for Texans vs. Jaguars
A pair of 1-4 teams battle to stay out of last place in the AFC South.
The injury concerns for Houston going into Sunday are long. All four of the team’s running backs -- Arian Foster (groin), Alfred Blue (toe), Chris Polk (knee) and Jonathan Grimes (knee) -- three of the receivers -- Cecil Shorts (shoulder), Nate Washington (hamstring) and Jaelen Strong (illness) -- and tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz (neck) are all on the weekly injury report. Washington is the only one definitely out Sunday, with Blue possible to join him; the rest should all be active. Jacksonville, too, has a lot of injury concerns. Quarterback Blake Bortles (shoulder), wide receiver Allen Hurns (ankle) and tight end Julius Thomas (hand) should all be fine for Sunday, while running back T.J. Yeldon is more of a game-time decision with his groin issue.
The Jaguars host the Texans Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Here’s a look at the fantasy considerations:
TEXANS
Start ‘em: Now that he appears to be fully back from injury, Arian Foster is an must-start every week in fantasy. ... DeAndre Hopkins has been a fantasy monster this year; he’d be a must-start in a two-team league.
Sit ‘em: Having reclaimed his starting job, Brian Hoyer still isn’t a fantasy option, but he’s better than Ryan Mallett. ... Hopkins dominates the targets available for Houston, leaving Cecil Shorts III and Garrett Graham fighting for scraps. ... Nick Novak is a decent kicker, but this offense hasn’t given him a lot to work with. ... The struggles of the Texans’ defense have been enormously frustrating, with only eight fantasy points through five weeks.
JAGUARS
Start ‘em: You’re definitely starting Allen Robinson, who is (slightly) the better of the Jaguars’ two Allens. ... Julius Thomas didn’t do much in his debut, but the further he gets from his injury the more appealing he is in fantasy.
Start ‘em?: It’s been a much better start to Blake Bortles’ sophomore campaign than his rookie year. He’s made himself a viable QB2. ... The injury concerns surrounding T.J. Yeldon are frustrating; the Jaguars don’t really have a competent backup, and Yeldon might not be healthy enough for a full workload. ... Allen Hurns would look like a slightly better option if not for his injury; he’s still a fine flex play. ... Despite some missed kicks, Jason Myers has averaged almost eight fantasy points a game over the last month.
Sit ‘em: The Jaguars’ defense has a total of seven fantasy points this season.
