Fantasy football projections, Week 6: Giants-Eagles featuring Eli Manning, Larry Donnell and DeMarco Murray
We break down the Week 6 matchup between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.
New York Giants
The New York Giants staged a dramatic come-from-behind win on their home field against the San Francisco 49ers last week. Quarterback Eli Manning led the way on the final drive and he finished the game with a record-setting 441 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Giants don’t have a running game so it’s not like the numbers came out of nowhere, but to repeat that kind of production on any level is going to be tough. That’s especially true considering both Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr. are dealing with injuries.
Should they both be out for Monday Night Football, tight end Larry Donnell might be worth starting. He caught six passes for 35 yards and the game-winning touchdown last week. With teammate and fellow tight end Daniel Fells dealing with a potentially career-ending staph infection, Donnell will be able to get open down the middle for the rest of the season. No other tight end on the roster is going to take away his looks. He might be an under-the-radar performer against the Eagles.
Philadelphia Eagles
Quarterback Sam Bradford completed 32 of 45 passes in the team’s Week 5 victory over the New Orleans Saints. He finished with 333 passing yards and two touchdowns. Although he did throw a pair of interceptions, Bradford led the Eagles to a 39-point output which is the team’s highest of the season. Coach Chip Kelly can only hope Bradford continues to roll against the Giants, a team that made the 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick look pretty good in the second half last week. If Bradford has another big game it would really help his fantasy owners.
Surely the more the Eagles can spread the ball around, the more running back DeMarco Murray will find room on the ground. After complaining that he’s not involved enough in the team’s offense, Murray touched the ball 27 times against the Saints and totaled 120 yards. He’s clearly not the rushing champion we saw last year anymore, but Murray is still a top-notch running back with room to increase his level of effectiveness. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later now that the season is in full swing.
