Dallas Cowboys running back Christine Michael is once again being discussed by Cowboys coaches as a major contributor in Dallas’ backfield. Michael was acquired from the Seattle Seahawks in September as the Cowboys searched for options for the void left by running back DeMarco Murray, who went to the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason. At 5’10 and 221 pounds, Michael is built for a heavy workload. As of now, Joseph Randle is still the team’s starter. However, with Lance Dunbar out for the season and Darren McFadden playing at an average level in a supporting role, there is plenty of opportunity for Michael to gain traction with meaningful snaps.
Christine Michael expected to get more work, once again becomes a waiver wire target
No, really. Christine Michael may finally get more work. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

During the team’s bye week, running backs coach Gary Brown said he’d like to take the reins off of Michael. Referring to the team’s other running backs, Brown added, “Not to say that the other guys don’t have power, but I think he probably has a little bit more power...We’ve got to take advantage of that.”
Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners have been waiting for the Cowboys to deliver on their intentions with Michael. Randle has played well, but he’s not the difference-maker that Murray was. Michael should be working his way into a bigger role in the committee rotation. This doesn’t mean that Michael will quickly take over the backfield, but it does mean that the Cowboys aren’t as confident in Randle and McFadden as they were hoping they’d be at the start of the season. Michael is available in over 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues. It’s time to stash him if he’s available. With Dez returning in the near future and Romo getting closer, Michael could be a huge asset during the fantasy playoffs.
