Fantasy football projections, Week 7: Bills-Jaguars featuring LeSean McCoy, Charles Clay and Allen Hurns
We break down the Week 7 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Buffalo Bills
It seems the Bills just can’t win when it comes to the injury bug. EJ Manuel got the start against the Cincinnati Bengals last week because Tyrod Taylor is dealing with an MCL sprain. While Manuel was pretty solid in his season debut, the most encouraging sign of life for the Bills was running back LeSean McCoy. McCoy ran for 90 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals, with both the yardage total and the score representing season-highs. It appears he’s over his preseason injury or at least trying his best to get over it, so McCoy should be a solid starting option against the Jaguars.
With wide receiver Sammy Watkins missing practice on Wednesday thanks to an ankle injury, the passing game will again look to tight end Charles Clay to produce. Clay saw a team high 13 targets last week and caught nine of them for 62 yards. The yardage total was a little low, but in PPR leagues this giant target with soft hands is a good asset. Clay will definitely produce against the Jaguars this Sunday. Whether it’s Taylor or Manuel, neither is going to have many other options down the field.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The bad news for fantasy owners of Allen Hurns is that he only caught two passes for 30 yards last week against the Houston Texans. The good news is one of those catches went for a touchdown. With the score, Hurns has now found the end zone in four straight weeks. Touchdowns typically aren’t a consistent source of fantasy points, but it’s obvious that quarterback Blake Bortles trusts Hurns. His reception total and yardage total should be higher against Buffalo, which means Hurns could find himself doing a touchdown dance for the fifth week in a row.
Teammate Allen Robinson may find himself joining the dance party, too. He has 13 catches for 158 yards and three touchdowns in the last two weeks combined. He’s been targeted at least nine times in all but one game this season. Robinson is just as fast as his buddy Hurns, but he possesses the added dimension of size. If one Allen doesn’t roast the Bills this Sunday, the other one will.
