Fantasy football projections, Week 7: Falcons-Titans featuring Devonta Freeman, Julio Jones and Delanie Walker
We break down the Week 7 matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tennessee Titans.
Atlanta Falcons
Quarterback Matt Ryan’s fantasy value may have taken a hit in recent weeks. It’s not because he’s not playing well, but rather because running back Devonta Freeman is stealing all of the touchdowns. Freeman has found the end zone in every game except Week 1 and he’s scored a whopping eight times in the last four games. Add that to the 253 rushing yards he has collected in the last two weeks combined and the Falcons have gotten all the more dangerous as a team thanks to their now undeniable lead back.
However, Freeman’s emergence may have also eaten into the numbers of wide receiver Julio Jones. Jones hasn’t scored a touchdown nor eclipsed 100 receiving yards since Week 3. While he was bound to cool down a little bit, fantasy owners are probably hoping for a little bit more against the Tennessee Titans. It’s only a matter of time before Jones puts together another monster game. This week could be the week. After all, Freeman will have to cool down a bit eventually, too.
Tennessee Titans
Reports suggest that rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota is dealing with a sprained MCL in his knee, which means that Zach Mettenberger will start for the Titans on Sunday. That being the case, it’s likely the Titans will rely on Antonio Andrews in the running game just to try to survive on Sunday. Andrews ran for just 23 yards last week, but the Titans will most certainly be playing from behind against Atlanta this week. Andrews has some value in PPR leagues because of his pass-catching ability. He may be a surprise producer in a game that should be filled with tons of garbage time opportunities in the second half.
Some of that garbage time will also benefit tight end Delanie Walker. Walker caught eight passes for 97 yards against the Buffalo Bills last week. He’s pretty much going to be the only reliable option in the passing game for the Titans beyond the backfield, even though wide receiver Kendall Wright is probably more talented. Walker is the only fantasy option in Tennessee that could be considered a must-start player, and that’s being very kind.
