Fantasy football projections, Week 7: Saints-Colts featuring Drew Brees, Willie Snead and Andrew Luck
We break down the Week 7 matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts.
New Orleans Saints
Despite the fact the team has won two of its last three games, the Saints still have a lot of work to do to catch up to the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South. Quarterback Drew Brees is doing everything he can to give the Saints a fighting chance. In five starts this season, he’s eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark four times. He did it for the third week in a row last week against the Falcons, albeit in a losing effort. Brees will likely find himself in a high-octane shootout against the Colts on Sunday, which will provide added value to his fantasy owners.
Wide receiver Willie Snead should also see his numbers get a bump up. After posting a career high 141 receiving yards in Week 5, Snead came crashing down to earth with just 55 yards last week. With Marques Colston’s career clearly winding down and Brandin Cooks still playing subpar football for the most part, Snead is the Saints receiver to own right now. He should be good for lots of yards, and likely a touchdown too, against Indy.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts looked determined to give the New England Patriots a run for their money in the first half of last week’s game, but the second half told a different story. Fantasy owners of quarterback Andrew Luck likely don’t care given that he eclipsed 300 yards passing and threw a trio of touchdown passes in a game for the first time this season. A repeat performance against the Saints isn’t out of the question at all and doing just that may give Luck owners the confidence they need to realize that he’s still one of the top passers in fantasy football.
Luck’s reemergence should also help wide receiver Donte Moncrief. The second-year wideout caught six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown last week. Anybody who doubted whether he may have lost his spot to veteran Andre Johnson in the rotation can lay that idea to rest now. Moncrief actually leads all Colts receivers with four touchdowns this season and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be doing a touchdown dance again on Sunday.
