Fantasy football projections, Week 7: Texans-Dolphins featuring DeAndre Hopkins, Arian Foster and Jarvis Landry
We break down the Week 7 matchup between the Houston Texans and the Miami Dolphins.
Houston Texans
The Atlanta Falcons’ Julio Jones may have been the one stealing all of the early-season headlines thanks to his incredible numbers, but the Texans DeAndre Hopkins is the one who people need to start talking about if they haven’t been already. He’s officially taken over the title as the league’s most consistent receiver this season. He leads the NFL in receiving yards through six weeks with 726 of them. He’s also scored five times and caught 52 passes on 89 targets. Nobody can stop him. Even though the Texans have gotten off to a slow start winning just two of the first six games this season, fantasy owners would be crazy to count out the team or its top players.
That’s especially true with running back Arian Foster returning to the lineup and finally looking healthy. Foster managed 112 total yards on 23 touches last week. Although he has yet to find the end zone running the ball, he did score on a reception for the first time this year in the team’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Dolphins have underwhelmed defensively this season, so Foster should have plenty of running room to work with on Sunday. Especially with Hopkins drawing a lot of attention in the passing game. Fantasy owners will be starting both of them league wide without question as they should be.
Miami Dolphins
Miami’s equivalent to DeAndre Hopkins would be wide receiver Jarvis Landry. That said, Landry’s 51 targets on the season is fewer than Hopkins has catches. That just goes to show you which of these two teams has the better talent. It doesn’t mean that Landry won’t put up fantasy points though. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is going to have to find him several times on Sunday in order to keep the Texans from winning their second consecutive game. Landry’s a good bet for double-digit targets week-to-week. Given that he only saw four passes thrown his way last week, he’ll surely be more involved this time around.
Maybe running back Lamar Miller will be more involved too. After failing to rush for more than 53 yards to this point in the season, Miller ran for 113 yards and his first touchdown of 2015 against the Tennessee Titans last week. He’s certainly disappointed fantasy owners, but now is the perfect time for him to start getting hot. Despite the fact J.J. Watt will be staring him down on the other side of the football all afternoon, the Texans only rank in the middle of the pack when it comes to the number of points the team concedes to fantasy running backs.
