It looked like Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was all set to be a monster for fantasy owners. Receiver Julio Jones was on a record pace to start the year and the Falcons were 5-0 to start the season.
Fantasy football start/sit, Week 7: Matt Ryan looks to pass it around more
Matt Ryan’s running game with Devonta Freeman has been the story. Can his fantasy owners trust him to throw it this week?
Well, Ryan has come back to Earth in his last three games. He has just three touchdowns, hasn’t topped 300 yards, and has four turnovers in his last four games. He hasn’t been worth starting in that span.
This week, he gets a slightly favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans rank as the 19th-toughest matchup for quarterbacks, but this game is on the road. While he has been fine this season, Ryan used to struggle on the road.
Perhaps the worst part of all this is that the Falcons will be running a lot against a team with a backup quarterback.
Fantasy impact: Ryan is a fine guy to start for owners with bye issues, but he’s more of a QB11-15 this week.
