San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates (MCL) is listed as questionable for the team’s Week 7 matchup against the Oakland Raiders.
Antonio Gates injury update: TE questionable for Chargers, fantasy owners
The San Diego Chargers tight end is list as questionable for Week 7. We break down the fantasy implications.
Gates was unable to practice at all this week and will likely be a game-time decision.
Fantasy impact: Since Gates was unable to get even a limited practice on Friday, he should be viewed as less than a 50 percent chance of suiting up.
Since returning from his four-week suspension, the seemingly ageless wonder hasn’t had the slightest trouble yielding TE1 production. Through two games played, Gates is averaging nine receptions for 93.5 yards and one touchdown.
Unfortunately, the Chargers won’t take the field until 4:05 p.m., which could leave fantasy owners in a bind if his official status isn’t updated prior to the early afternoon kickoff. Should Gates sit this one out, Ladarius Green would make for a fine spot start.
Green is averaging 4.2 receptions for 51.8 yards and 0.6 touchdowns per game. Owners without the Green handcuff need to continue to monitor the situation closely and have a viable back up ready to go.
