The Baltimore Ravens really need a win in Week 7, as they sit with a 1-5 record and need to string together several wins if they want any chance in 2015. The Arizona Cardinals need a win as well, because despite sitting in first place in the NFC West, they’ve lost two of three since starting 3-0 and need a win to show they aren’t a fluke. The two teams play each other Monday, meaning only one will fulfill their wish.
Fantasy football advice, Week 7: Who to start/sit for Ravens vs. Cardinals on Monday night
Two teams needing a win for different reasons face off Monday.
The Ravens will continue to be without wide receiver Breshad Perriman in Monday’s game. Tight end Maxx Williams appears likely to miss as well, as he deals with an ankle injury. On the Arizona side, tight end Darren Fells will be out with a shoulder sprain. Wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown both appeared on the weekly injury report as well, though both appear good to go.
The Cardinals host the Ravens Monday, with game time scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
RAVENS
Start ‘em: After a slow start to the season, Justin Forsett has been much better of late. He’s a fantasy starter. ... If you have Steve Smith Sr., you’re using him, though it’s wise to be on the lookout for a late-season fade like last year. ... Justin Tucker has at least five fantasy points in every game this year.
Start ‘em?: One way or another, Joe Flacco keeps getting it done, though against a stout defense, you probably want to look elsewhere.
Sit ‘em: Forsett’s return to most of his 2014 form means Buck Allen isn’t a good fantasy option. ... Crockett Gillmore didn’t do much in his return in Week 6; it looks like his big Week 2 was more a result of a favorable matchup than anything. ... The Ravens’ defense has been awful most of the year.
CARDINALS
Start ‘em: There is an argument for Carson Palmer, in a favorable matchup, as the week’s No. 1 quarterback. ... Larry Fitzgerald continues to be a fantasy monster. ... John Brown has looked better and better, increasing his fantasy performance in five straight games. He’s a fine WR2. ... Chandler Catanzaro can do Justin Tucker one better; he’s had at least six fantasy points in every game this season. ... The Cardinals’ defense has put up one fantasy point three different times this year, but it’s been a monster three other times.
Start ‘em?: The Cardinals have a three-headed monster at running back. Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington both look like reasonable flex plays, and David Johnson always has a touchdown in his back pocket, but none of the three is a sure thing.
Sit ‘em: We’ve finally seen some signs of life from Michael Floyd, but it’s probably wise to let him sit another week. ... With Darren Fells out, Jermaine Gresham and Troy Niklas will be the top Arizona tight ends, but they aren’t fantasy options.
