San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is expected to rest his ankle against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. Gordon's ankle injury is reportedly minor, but his ball security issues and inconsistent play may warrant a week of rest to get himself together both mentally and physically. Danny Woodhead and Branden Oliver will likely handle the workload out of the backfield. Through six games, Gordon is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry and has yet to find the end zone.
Melvin Gordon injury update: Chargers RB likely inactive for fantasy owners Week 7
Melvin Gordon is expected to sit out Sunday’s game. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: It feels as if everyone wins in this scenario. Gordon owners are likely struggling to find excuses to start him on a weekly basis, especially after his abysmal 7-29-0 stat line against the Green Bay Packers in Week 6. Woodhead owners get a boost, and Oliver owners have a streaming option during a heavy bye week. Gordon is going to suffer from rookie mistakes from time to time, but he seemed to be unraveling a bit as a of late. Hopefully Gordon can recharge for Week 8, when the Chargers face the Baltimore Ravens.
