Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown will participate in some kind of limited practice session on Thursday, according to beat writer Scott Petrak. McCown started last week’s game against the St. Louis Rams before departing the contest with a shoulder ailment.
Josh McCown limited in practice on Thursday, fantasy start not a sure bet yet
Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown will practice Thursday as he continues to get over a shoulder injury. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: If McCown can’t go, Johnny Manziel will start in his place, but coach Mike Pettine hasn’t said anything about that yet. Most expect McCown to get the start. He’s been on and off this year in terms of fantasy production, and his numbers have been really dependent on the game situation.
If the Cleveland Browns are playing from behind, which is usually the case, McCown throws a high volume of passes and takes a high number of risks. Those risks sometimes pay off in the form of huge yardage numbers, but sometimes they also account for a large number of interceptions.
Fantasy owners who choose to start him have to take the good with the bad, but sometimes they will get lucky. It appears for now that McCown is on track to start, but anybody who takes a chance on him should wait for official confirmation closer to Sunday’s game.
