Ben Roethlisberger expected to start Sunday, per report, remains high-end fantasy QB
The wait for Ben Roethlisberger’s return appears to be at its end. We break down the fantasy implications.
Roethlisberger practiced on Wednesday and Thursday and remains on track to make his first start on Sunday since being bounced from Week 3's victory over the St. Louis Rams with a knee injury. The Steelers have gone 2-2 in games started without their franchise quarterback under center, and a boost to the offense can be expected upon his return.
Via Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
"Definitely," said wide receiver Markus Wheaton. "I think a lot of people are excited to have him. Obviously. we know how good he is, especially coming off this loss, everybody is excited to have him back."
See any rust?
"No, not at all,'' said Wheaton. "Not at all."
Fantasy impact: Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant's owners can exhale, as Roethlisberger's long-awaited return is imminent. Though Bryant and Brown each capitalized with splash plays in his absence, Roethlisberger will add an element of consistency that Landry Jones and Michael Vick could simply not provide. Fantasy owners can expect that same consistency in the form of fantasy points.
Though the Cincinnati Bengals defense is hardly a pushover, Roethlisberger should tbe considered a low-end QB1 for Week 8 due to his own capability as well as the abundance of weapons surrounding him.
