Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has resumed light throwing and will begin practicing Wednesday, according to Star-Telegram’s Charean Williams.
Tony Romo expected to practice Wednesday, return to fantasy lineups inches closer
The Cowboys may not be without their franchise quarterback for too much longer. We break down the fantasy implications.
Romo was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return after fracturing his left collarbone in Week 2. The designation means the earliest Romo could return is Nov. 22 regardless of how healthy he is, but the latest news regarding the Cowboys quarterback indicates that he is on track to make that Week 11 return. The Cowboys are 0-4 in games Romo has missed.
Fantasy impact: Fantasy football owners are just as eager to see Romo’s return, especially those who have Dez Bryant and Jason Witten on their rosters. Both Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley have all but vanished from fantasy relevance in Romo’s absence.
It’s still too early to project Week 11 as a definite return date, but the good news to take from this is that Romo’s odds of returning then are more likely than not. Playoff-bound fantasy owners in need of a quarterback would be wise to stash him for a stretch run, even though difficult December matchups present themselves. Every pass catcher in the Cowboys’ offense would have a boost in fantasy value upon Romo’s return as well.
