Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, according to Peter Schrager of Fox Sports.
Marcus Mariota ruled out Sunday for Titans, fantasy owners
The Titans will be without their rookie signal caller once again on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise since Mariota practiced on Wednesday and Thursday on a limited basis and went through individual drills. Mariota continues to recover from an MCL sprain that kept him out of action in Week 7. Zach Mettenberger will once again get the nod under center.
Fantasy impact: Though Mettenberger has had success pushing the ball downfield in the past, he struggled mightily against a revamped Atlanta Falcons defense. It should be smoother sailing against the floundering Texans secondary, but not enough for him to garner starting consideration.
Delanie Walker, Kendall Wright and Dexter McCluster led the Titans with nine, eight and eight targets respectively, indicating that Mettenberger could distribute the ball evenly once again. Walker garners low-end TE1 consideration, but McCluster and Wright are low-floor flex plays.
