Fantasy football projections, Week 10: Cowboys-Buccaneers featuring Dez Bryant, Darren McFadden and Mike Evans
We break down the Week 10 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dallas Cowboys
After being virtually shut out in his return to the lineup two weeks ago against the Seattle Seahawks, wide receiver Dez Bryant was able to produce some fantasy numbers against the Philadelphia Eagles at home last week. He caught just four passes thanks to the inconsistent play of quarterback Matt Cassel, but even with the limited reception total, Bryant managed 104 yards and a touchdown. Tony Romo is still a week away from returning to the lineup due to a collarbone injury, so Bryant’s fantasy output could once again be limited in Tampa Bay this Sunday. He’ll be in starting lineups everywhere anyway, as should be the case.
The same goes for running back Darren McFadden, who managed to surpass 100 yards rushing for the second time in three weeks against the Eagles. He finished with 117 yards on 27 carries. Those carry totals will undoubtedly come down when Romo is back in the lineup, but for now fantasy owners should consider McFadden fantasy gold. He should run all over the Buccaneers out of necessity. Regardless of the reasoning, it will all count for fantasy points.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Mike Evans posted quite the letdown performance in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons. Fortunately he was able to rebound big time last week. The sophomore receiver caught eight of a whopping 19 targets for 152 yards. The 19 targets marked the third time this year Evans has seen the ball thrown in his direction at least 12 times. It’s obvious that a player seeing that kind of volume would hold fantasy value regardless of whether the team is winning, and even whether the quarterback’s playing well. The Cowboys possess a solid secondary unit, but there’s no way Evans won’t produce given how busy he’s going to be in the game.
If by some chance Evans is blanketed against the Cowboys and Tampa Bay struggles to move the football, maybe it will be time for running back Doug Martin to put together a bounce-back performance of his own. Martin has 102 rushing yards in the last two games combined after going well beyond 100 yards on the ground in three straight contests. Those quick to resurrect the glory days of The Muscle Hamster may have done so prematurely. If Martin is going to prove that he truly has regained his rookie season form, Week 10 would be a good time to start.
