Fantasy football projections, Week 10: Patriots-Giants featuring Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Eli Manning
We break down the Week 10 matchup between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.
New England Patriots
Breaking news! For the first time this season, Tom Brady actually had a game that resembled that of just a slightly above-par quarterback. He threw for a measly 299 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against Washington last week. Those numbers represent perhaps his most pedestrian effort of the season. Fantasy owners won’t be caught complaining though, as Brady was likely drafted in the middle rounds and continues to offer top-notch value. There really is nothing standing in the way of Brady torching the Giants on Sunday. He should easily eclipse 300 passing yards and three touchdowns once again this week.
Some of his production will certainly benefit wide receiver Brandon LaFell. LaFell had his best game of the season last week, grabbing five passes for 102 yards against Washington. He was able to get open downfield and keep the football secure once it hit his hands, and it seems he’s finally found his rhythm. Still, he has yet to reach the end zone this season and a matchup against the Giants is as good a time as any to start putting points up on the board, both for the Patriots and fantasy owners.
New York Giants
The Giants managed to find a way to top the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, but it wasn’t exactly due to a spectacular performance from quarterback Eli Manning. He threw for just 213 yards and two touchdowns and also tossed two picks in the game. An effort like that against the Patriots will see the game get out of hand fairly quickly. The silver lining in playing against and probably losing to the Pats is that Manning will likely post huge numbers for his fantasy owners while trying to keep up. He’ll be a top performer this week.
That should also have a trickle down effect on Odell Beckham Jr. The star wideout followed up a monster performance against the New Orleans Saints two weeks ago with a season high 17 targets against the Bucs last week. He managed to haul in nine of them for 105 yards. While he was held out of the end zone in the game, the same kind of volume against the Patriots could lead to a multi-score game for Beckham this time around. He’ll likely be a top performer in Week 10.
