Fantasy football advice, Week 10: Who to start/sit for Jaguars vs. Ravens
Both teams have awful records, but perhaps some performances that don’t reflect those bad outcomes.
A pair of 2-6 teams face off Sunday afternoon. The Baltimore Ravens have the record they have by virtue of a series of close losses and some key injuries. The Jacksonville Jaguars, meanwhile, have an inconsistent offense and a spotty defense, but there are some reasons for down-the-road optimism.
The Jaguars have injury questions around wide receiver Allen Hurns, who has been dealing with a foot injury and is officially questionable, though he's said he will definitely play. Tight end Julius Thomas is also on the weekly injury report, but is expected to be fine for the game. For the Ravens, tight end Crockett Gillmore is dealing with a shoulder problem. He should be fine to go.
The Ravens host the Jaguars Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy considerations:
JAGUARS
Start ‘em: In a league with a lot of split running back jobs, T.J. Yeldon has the Jacksonville gig all to himself, and he's been strong for more than a month now. ... With his No. 2 banged up, and facing a bad pass defense, Allen Robinson is a super-elite option this week.
Start ‘em?: There's a lot of upside to Blake Bortles' game, with 20-plus fantasy points four times in eight games. His propensity for interceptions is worrisome, but he could be a strong start this week. ... The injury questions around Allen Hurns ding him a little, but he's an appealing option anyway. ... Julius Thomas has been awful or hurt for almost the whole season. He still has Julius Thomas upside, but he hasn't shown it much. ... If the Jacksonville offense performs like it can Sunday, Jason Myers could produce a lot of kicking numbers.
Sit ‘em: The Jaguars’ defense had a great Week 7, but otherwise has been a really bad unit this year.
RAVENS
Start ‘em: The last five games, Justin Forsett has averaged more than 12 points per contest. He's back to must-start. ... Justin Tucker still hasn't kicked for fewer than five points in a game all season.
Start ‘em?: Even without all of his weapons, Joe Flacco has put up good numbers several times this year. ... With Steve Smith's season over, Kamar Aiken is the only competent receiver left in Baltimore. Just by virtue of heavy usage, he could be a fantasy helper. ... Smith's absence should give more looks to Crockett Gillmore as well, though he has limited upside otherwise.
Sit ‘em: There's a reason the Ravens were able to acquire Chris Givens, and it's not because he's a great fantasy player. ... You typically like a defense going against Jacksonville, but the Ravens' defense has 11 fantasy points total in its last nine weeks.
