Fantasy football advice, Week 10: Who to start/sit for Chiefs vs. Broncos
It’s an AFC West showdown Sunday afternoon.
The Denver Broncos started 7-0, but a Week 9 loss has things looking slightly murkier for them. The Kansas City Chiefs, meanwhile, have won two in a row after starting 1-5. Another win for Kansas City, over Denver this week, could actually give the team something to talk about this season.
Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce is on the weekly injury report with a groin issue, but his status for Sunday's game has never really been in doubt. Denver has a lot more questions; quarterback Peyton Manning, running backs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Owen Daniels are all on the weekly injury report. Sanders is a legitimate question mark for Sunday's game after missing practice with an ankle injury, but the others are all expected to play.
The Broncos host the Chiefs Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
CHIEFS
Start ‘em: The one Chiefs offensive player you can feel reasonably comfortable using this week is Travis Kelce, who is strong at a weak position.
Start ‘em?: The last two games for Charcandrick West have been great, though facing Denver makes him a risky option. ... The same goes for Jeremy Maclin, who has limited upside against Denver. ... The Chiefs' defense has been really strong of late, and the Denver offense isn't any great shakes.
Sit ‘em: A game against the Denver defense doesn't bode well for many fantasy players. Alex Smith is in line for a lot of struggles Sunday. ... This is a bad week to toss Cairo Santos out there.
BRONCOS
Start ‘em: You're definitely still running Demaryius Thomas out there every week; he has at least five fantasy points in every game. ... Brandon McManus and the Broncos' defense are easy every-week starters.
Start ‘em?: Things are looking up for Peyton Manning of late. His numbers have increased the last couple games, and there’s some chance for success against Kansas City. He’s no sure thing, though. ... C.J. Anderson appears to have retaken the No. 1 role from Ronnie Hillman. Both are flex options, with Anderson holding more upside. ... Assuming Emmanuel Sanders plays Sunday, he’s a must-start, but it’s looking increasingly like he might not make it onto the field. ... After a great Week 9, Owen Daniels at least has the upside for usage, but he’s risky.
Sit ‘em: There will come a time to consider Vernon Davis as a fantasy option in Denver, but we need to see something first.
