Fantasy football projections, Week 10: Texans-Bengals featuring DeAndre Hopkins, Andy Dalton and Tyler Eifert
We break down the Week 10 matchup between the Houston Texans and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Houston Texans
DeAndre Hopkins’ numbers have taken a hit the last two weeks, but his results aren’t exactly alarming to fantasy owners. What more could you expect from the league’s top point-per-reception option? He’s an absolute monster, and Hopkins will be the only factor keeping the team’s game against the Bengals close this week. A 100-yard game, eight catches and a touchdown are all reasonable goals for fantasy owners plugging him into the lineup in Cincy ... as if anybody would consider sitting him.
Hopkins’ progress on Monday will be aided by quarterback Brian Hoyer. Hoyer will face a tall task in trying to hand the Bengals their first loss of the season. Doing just that is highly unlikely, but what is almost certain is that he’ll be playing from behind early and often. That probably means a high volume of passes for Hoyer, so he’ll likely do well in fantasy terms, even if he doesn’t stack up to the Bengals in reality. Hoyer is a streaming option at best given the matchup, but he may indeed surprise some people.
Cincinnati Bengals
Quarterback Andy Dalton picked apart the Cleveland Browns last week to the tune of 234 yards and three touchdown passes. He’s thrown at least two touchdowns in all but two games this season. Facing a Texans squad that is averaging two passing touchdowns allowed per game this season likely means another solid box score coming up for Dalton’s owners. This Monday night matchup should be an easy, breezy game for the quarterback of one of the NFL’s elite teams.
Each of Dalton’s touchdowns last week came thanks to the reliable hands of tight end Tyler Eifert, who added five catches and 53 yards to his numbers last week. He’s now scored an impressive six times over the last four games. Continuing his hot play shouldn’t be a problem for Eifert against Houston this time around, though he probably can’t keep up those kinds of touchdown numbers. Either way, Eifert should continue to be one of Andy Dalton’s favorite checkdown and red zone targets in Week 10.
