New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is officially shut down for the season. Cruz announced via Uninterrupted that he is having surgery on his calf, effectively ending any chance of his return in 2015.
Victor Cruz will have season-ending calf surgery, fantasy owners should finally move on
Victor Cruz is officially not returning for the 2015 season. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Cruz suffered a torn patellar tendon in 2014 and hasn’t seen the field since. Cruz is four years removed from his Pro Bowl season, when he racked up 1536 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
At 29 years old, Cruz’s best days may be behind him. Patellar tendon injuries typically involve a lengthy recovery and oftentimes create other weaknesses and injury risk.
Cruz’s calf surgery could be the sign of a snowball effect caused by his 2014 injury.
Fantasy impact: Cruz is still owned in nearly 30 percent of Yahoo! leagues. It’s time to drop him in all formats, especially in redraft leagues.
The Giants are moving forward with wide receiver Dwayne Harris in the slot. Harris has some WR3 appeal in PPR formats, but Giants receivers other than Odell Beckham Jr. have a dangerous floor.
