Peyton Manning has partially torn plantar fascia, per report, fantasy status unclear for Week 11
The Broncos’ quarterback has been dealing with a worsening case of plantar fasciitis, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. We break down the fantasy implications.

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is dealing with a torn plantar fascia, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Manning had been dealing with a strain of that ligament prior to Week 10's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but Schefter's report confirms that he is now dealing with a more severe injury. Schefter added that Eli Manning had played with a fully torn plantar fascia in 2009, but Peyton's injury is a partial tear, and more difficult to play through.
The Broncos' signal caller was benched in the third quarter in favor of Brock Osweiler, which led to head coach Gary Kubiak regretting his decision to start Manning in the first place.
Kubiak said, via Mile High Report:
“I probably should have made a decision not to play him in the game and the reason, I needed to make that, probably, a tough decision there. He practiced Friday, felt good, came out of practice Friday and Saturday, as you all know, his ribs were bothering him a little bit. I probably should have right there said, ‘No, he’s not going to go this week.’”
Fantasy impact: There should be true concern about whether the 39-year-old quarterback suits up for Week 11, but his fantasy owners have likely had a second option in place of him amid a season where Manning has struggled mightily.
It’s bizarre to hear anyone advise that Manning should be benched in fantasy leagues of all formats, but that’s exactly what fantasy owners need to do until he proves capable of putting up the QB1 numbers he has been known for throughout his career.
If Osweiler starts, he will be considered a middling QB2 against the Chicago Bears.
