Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi is quietly gaining momentum despite his role as backup to running back Lamar Miller.
Jay Ajayi does more with less in Week 10, worth a waiver grab in deeper leagues
Jay Ajayi is out-playing Lamar Miller with less opportunity. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

On Sunday, Ajayi was able to generate 48 yards on just six carries. Meanwhile, Miller totaled just 43 yards on the ground with 16 carries. Through just two games this season, Ajayi is averaging over eight yards per carry. Ajayi’s numbers through two weeks won’t make headlines, but he’s emerging as the more explosive running back on the roster. Miller will be a free agent in 2016, and Ajayi is beginning to prove that the Dolphins can move forward without him.
Fantasy impact: For fantasy purposes, Ajayi may not have a lot of starting value just yet. He’ll see a handful of touches as a change-of-pace back, and that role may not change any time soon. However, he’s one of the more promising running backs available in over 80 percent of (Yahoo!) leagues right now. He should be seriously considered in dynasty leagues, and could maintain some value for keeper leagues able to hold him into 2016 if plucked from the waiver wire. Ajayi should be stashed in deeper re-draft leagues. It’s always possible he could break out down the stretch.
