This means Hoyer will not practice Wednesday, and it remains unclear if the Texans will have their starting quarterback under center for Week 11 against the New York Jets. T.J. Yates will get the start if Hoyer is not cleared in time. Yates led the Texans to a comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10 after Hoyer was sidelined with his concussion.
Fantasy impact: Despite Yates' late-game heroics, Week 11 presents a nightmare scenario for the Texans offense, even if Hoyer can play. The Jets defense remains one of the NFL's best, and has the capacity to keep budding superstar DeAndre Hopkins in check with Darrelle Revis and a formidable interior pass rush.
Yates doesn’t deserve starting consideration if he plays, and Hoyer would only be a low-end QB2 if he is cleared. Fantasy owners with Hopkins should expect a lower floor than usual, but a high ceiling always remains with a player of his caliber.
