Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak will not limit the game plan with Brock Osweiler at quarterback, according to Andrew Mason of denverbroncos.com.
Broncos won’t limit Brock Osweiler, still risky to start in fantasy leagues
The Broncos’ No. 2 quarterback is set to make his first career start on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Osweiler will make his first career start while Peyton Manning will get at least a week of rest to manage a partially torn plantar fascia. Manning completed 5 of 20 passes for 35 yards and threw four interceptions last Sunday, leaving Kubiak no choice but to put in Osweiler during Week 10's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kubiak said of Osweiler, via denverbroncos.com:
“No, I feel very comfortable with Brock,” Kubiak said. “I could go give him all of the work, mentally, that he needs. He handles everything well, but I think there is a point where you go back, you study him and you see what he’s done and what he feels most comfortable with.
“As far as volume of game plan and stuff, I’m very comfortable doing anything with him.”
Fantasy impact: Though Osweiler had success moving the ball in relief duty, it remains to be seen how he can do under center when the score is 0-0 rather than his team trailing by 22. The Chicago Bears are quietly allowing the fourth-fewest passing yards per game in 2015, but the arsenal of receiving weapons the Broncos have is capable of countering it.
Osweiler isn't worth starting consideration in standard-formatted fantasy leagues, but fantasy owners would be foolish to bench Demaryius Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders, health permitting.
