Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer doesn’t look like he’s going to be able to play this week against the New York Jets, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. Hoyer completed 12 passes for 123 yards and threw an interception before leaving last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Brian Hoyer likely out his week, fantasy prospects not looking good
Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer likely won’t be able to play this week because of a concussion. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: T.J. Yates filled in admirably for Hoyer last week and helped lead the Texans to a 10-6 victory in the game at Cincinnati, throwing the game-winning touchdown to wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Despite the team’s sub-500 record in the NFL’s weakest division, Hoyer has actually been a serviceable fantasy player this season. He could pass as a regular starter in deeper leagues. At the same time, the fact that he is probably going to be out this week isn’t a big deal. The veteran is certainly replaceable.
Fantasy owners can wait a little bit before making a final decision based on Hoyer’s status, but right now things don’t look good for him. Yates is likely to start in Hoyer’s place, even though the Texans did claim former Dallas Cowboys backup Brandon Weeden off of waivers, too.
