Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith put together an impressive performance on Sunday, leading the Chiefs to a 45-10 win over the Detroit Lions. Smith completed 18 of 26 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns. While his passing yards didn't exactly make headlines, Smith added 78 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown to his day. It was a dominant performance by the Chiefs as Smith played more of a game-manager role as usual. The Chiefs will head into their bye week followed by a trip to Denver to face the Broncos in Week 10.
Alex Smith scores three touchdowns, remains a waiver wire mirage
Alex Smith had a big week. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: As impressive as Smith was, particularly on the ground, it should come as no surprise. He’s capable of games like this from time to time. He’ll remain a streaming option for anyone in need of quarterback help, but his weekly ceiling remains limited. Smith is a “safe” option for fantasy purposes most weeks, much like he is on the field. He’s owned in 27 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which shouldn’t change much moving forward. He’ll be a low-end QB2 when the Chiefs face the Broncos. Smith was unable to score a touchdown and threw two interceptions when he faced the Broncos in Week 2.
