The San Francisco 49ers have traded veteran tight end Vernon Davis to the Denver Broncos, as confirmed by Broncos vice president John Elway. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the 49ers are receiving sixth- and seventh-round picks this year, plus an additional sixth-round pick in 2017.
Vernon Davis traded to Broncos, fantasy outlook looks improved
The 49ers moved their veteran tight end to the Broncos. We break down the fantasy implications.

With the 49ers going nowhere this year, they opted to ship away one of their longtime veterans as the rebuild begins. Davis has been with the team ever since being drafted in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. The 31-year-old is a free agent after this year. In six games, Davis has just 18 catches for 194 yards.
Fantasy impact: Going from Colin Kaepernick to Peyton Manning sounds like an obvious boost to Davis’ fantasy stock, but owners should still be cautious. Besides needing time to learn a new offense, Davis is past his prime physically and rarely stays healthy. Still, he’s an immediate upgrade on Owen Daniels and could be back on the TE1 radar sooner than later. Garrett Celek is the new starter in San Francisco, but won’t have much fantasy value in a dysfunctional offense.
