Fantasy football projections, Week 11: Cowboys-Dolphins featuring Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and Ryan Tannehill
We break down the Week 11 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys may be way out of contention for a playoff spot, but that doesn’t mean the team isn’t committed to playing its best players. That’s why quarterback Tony Romo will start against the Dolphins. He hasn’t played since fracturing his collarbone way back in Week 2, and it makes sense because this is the week he’s been targeting for about a month now. Romo should inject some life into the Cowboys’ passing game, something the team has been hurting for since Romo went down. While it’s been tough to be a Cowboys fan this year, at least fantasy owners can still get some value out of the team.
Romo’s impending return this Sunday will most certainly provide a boost to wide receiver Dez Bryant. Bryant himself spent a big chunk of the season injured and has only been back in the lineup for three weeks. He did manage to go for over 100 yards and a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago, so at the very least he’s looking healthy. Hopefully the return of his quarterback can catapult Bryant to getting back among the league’s elite fantasy receivers.
Miami Dolphins
The Dallas Cowboys have allowed just nine passing touchdowns to opponents in nine games this season. That’s a stat worth noting for fantasy owners who plan to start Ryan Tannehill at quarterback this week. It’s also worth noting that he’s thrown just two touchdown passes in the last three weeks combined. The good news is that both of those touchdown passes came last week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Still, Tannehill is going to be in tough against the Cowboys. Perhaps he can surprise a few people and help his team ruin the return of Tony Romo.
In order to make that happen, Tannehill is going to have to do a better job of finding receiver Jarvis Landry so that the chains can keep moving. Landry does have 18 catches and a touchdown over the last two weeks. On the downside of that is the fact that all of those catches have amounted to just 121 receiving yards. That’s an average of just 6.7 yards per catch. Hopefully the number increases against the Cowboys, but doing so is going to be a tall order.
