We break down the Week 11 matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
There wasn’t too much that went right offensively for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week against the Dallas Cowboys. The team squeaked out a 10-6 victory. One player who wasn’t affected by the lack of production was Mike Evans. The receiver caught eight passes for 126 yards in the game, marking the third time in four weeks that he’s caught at least eight passes and gone for at least 126 yards. One can only imagine the kind of numbers Evans would be able to post if his quarterback was a bona fide star. Nevertheless, he is the one sure bet to produce in Tampa Bay and should be in for a huge day against the Eagles.
Perhaps running back Doug Martin can help Evans’ cause. Martin has been quiet for the last three weeks and totaled just 165 yards rushing over that span. He did manage to catch four passes for an additional 40 yards last week, which helps his overall numbers in PPR leagues, but it looks like his three-game rushing spree filled with touchdowns and 100-yard games wasn’t built to last. Hopefully Martin can bust out for another big game this Sunday.
Philadelphia Eagles
In eight games this season, running back DeMarco Murray has just a single 100-yard rushing game. To say the least, this year has been a disappointment and that’s considering the fact that most people expected him to regress a little bit given the year he had last season with the Dallas Cowboys. On the plus side, Murray did manage to total over 100 yards last week thanks to the fact he added six receptions for 58 yards in the passing game. With Mark Sanchez appearing poised to fill in for the injured Sam Bradford this week, Murray could be a busy guy, as perhaps the team’s overall game plan will be a little bit more conservative.
Wide receiver Jordan Matthews better hope that isn’t the case, because even when the team is looking down the field, he’s not getting targeted as much as he probably should be. Matthews saw just five passes come his way against the Miami Dolphins last week and, as a result, was only able to put together a three-catch performance for 21 yards. He is Philadelphia’s No. 1 receiver without a doubt, but because the team has been so up-and-down this year, he’s not exactly putting up the numbers most fantasy owners were hoping for when they drafted him.
