Fantasy football projections, Week 11: Rams-Ravens featuring Todd Gurley, Case Keenum and Kamar Aiken
We break down the Week 11 matchup between the St. Louis Rams and the Baltimore Ravens.
St. Louis Rams
Coach Jeff Fisher has decided to shake things up for the Rams offensively because Case Keenum will start at quarterback against the Ravens. Most fantasy owners won’t even think about picking them up off the waiver wire, but Keenum did show flashes of solid play as a member of the Houston Texans a while back. The bottom line is that Nick Foles hasn’t been good all year long and trying to pick a Rams receiver that’s dependable off the waiver wire is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Perhaps things are about to change in St. Louis.
For now, we know what is not going to change for the Rams and that is that the offense will run through rookie running back Todd Gurley. Gurley has scored in each of the last four games and as long as the Rams can stay within reach and don’t have to abandon the running game, he’s an automatic stud. The team around him is really the only thing holding Gurley back from being amazing every single week. Given how bad the Ravens have been this year, Gurley will be in for a huge game in Week 11.
Baltimore Ravens
Coming into the season, few experts would have anticipated that the Baltimore Ravens would be as bad as they have shown. Things just aren’t clicking. Since Steve Smith is done for the year thanks to an injury, as is the team’s first-round draft pick Breshad Perriman, the No. 1 receiver in town is Kamar Aiken. Aiken was targeted 14 times last week, catching seven passes for 73 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a losing effort. He will be busy by default against the Rams on Sunday, which might necessitate starting him in deeper leagues.
Fantasy owners who are desperate for a running back might go ahead and use Justin Forsett. He surprised the fantasy community last year emerging as a star off of the waiver wire. This year, however, has been a different story. Forsett has rushed for more than 69 yards just twice this season. It appears the two monster games he had back-to-back to start October were just a mirage. If he does have a saving grace fantasy wise, it’s that Forsett can at least complement a low rushing total with some receptions out of the backfield.
