Fantasy football projections, Week 11: Jets-Texans featuring Brandon Marshall, Chris Ivory and DeAndre Hopkins
We break down the Week 11 matchup between the New York Jets and the Houston Texans.
New York Jets
The New England Patriots wrapped up the AFC East division weeks ago. Not officially, but nevertheless the Jets must focus their playoff hopes on a wild card spot. Last week they took a blow after being handed a defeat by the Buffalo Bills. The good news is that running back Chris Ivory had a decent game for the first time in weeks. He rushed for 99 yards on 19 carries against the Bills and also caught a pair of passes for 36 yards. He could be busy against the Texans on Sunday as quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick continues to recover from surgery while remaining in the lineup.
One player who won’t rest even when the quarterback decides to throw the ball though is wide receiver Brandon Marshall. He continues to impress fans and experts alike throughout his time in New York. That said, he was bottled up by Buffalo last week, catching just three passes for 23 yards. Fortunately for fantasy owners, he did manage to find the end zone for the second game in a row, saving his fantasy day. Marshall should fare better against the Texans this time around.
Houston Texans
Houston walked into Cincinnati last week and handed the Bengals their first loss of the season. The team now unbelievably finds itself tied for the division lead in the AFC South despite a subpar 4-5 record. Thank goodness wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins isn’t subpar. He now has four touchdowns in four games after catching the only score of the contest last week. Hopkins will no doubt be blanketed by the Jets’ Darrelle Revis this week, but he should still put up his share of numbers. That’s even if T.J. Yates and not Brian Hoyer starts the game.
Outside of Hopkins, the team’s fantasy options are limited, but perhaps if Hopkins is well-covered teammate Nate Washington will get open. He only caught two passes last week for 32 yards and he can be a boom-or-bust player. Anybody looking to take a chance and lacks depth at the wide receiver position should take a look. Washington is a flex play at best, however.
