The Week 11 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks is a matchup between two teams most people would agree are underachieving this season. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.
Fantasy football projections, Week 11: 49ers-Seahawks featuring Quinton Patton, Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch
We break down the Week 11 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
San Francisco 49ers
It’s almost unbelievable that the San Francisco 49ers topped the Atlanta Falcons before heading into their bye last week. Former Jacksonville Jaguars draft pick Blaine Gabbert didn’t exactly post a solid fantasy day, but he did do just enough to win. He completed 15 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Definitely an average performance. He will be in tough going into Seattle, and his numbers will likely get uglier before they get better. Fantasy owners taking a look at him are doing it purely based on speculation as far as his likelihood of putting together a good performance is concerned.
If he does manage to play better, Gabbert could have a positive impact on the numbers of wide receiver Quinton Patton. Patton caught three passes against the Falcons for 70 yards and was targeted five times in the game vs. Atlanta. Given that Anquan Boldin is still trying to recover from a hamstring injury, Patton may be in line for increased action this Sunday, albeit against the likes of Richard Sherman and company.
Seattle Seahawks
For the most part, quarterback Russell Wilson got swallowed up at home by the Arizona Cardinals last week. He fumbled in the end zone for a safety and had to freestyle all night long to try to make things happen. That’s what he’s had to do his whole career with the Seahawks but against a top-notch defensive team, being creative can present its share of challenges. Wilson will no doubt do much better against a much weaker San Francisco 49ers squad. Keep in mind that even against a great defense last week he managed to rush for 52 yards. No matter who the opponent is his feet will always be an asset.
With that being said, fantasy owners hope to see the feet of running back Marshawn Lynch being used more often. He only carried the ball eight times last week against Arizona and managed to rush for 42 yards and a touchdown. As is often the case when a running back has a big season the way Lynch did last year, there’s a drop off in production. Still, to see that Lynch has only three rushing touchdowns in 2015 is slightly disappointing. The good news is that his only 100-yard rushing game of the season came against the San Francisco 49ers, and he’s playing against them again this week. Lynch could be a top fantasy performer on Sunday.
