San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates (knee, hip) is listed as probable for the team’s Week 11 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Antonio Gates injury update: TE probable for Chargers, fantasy owners
The San Diego Chargers’ tight end is listed as probable for Week 11. We break down the fantasy implications.
Gates was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, downgraded to a non-participant on Thursday then returned to practice on a limited basis again on Friday. He’s fully expected to suit up despite him not being 100 percent healthy.
Fantasy impact: Gates has been worth the four-game wait for fantasy owners as he presents one of the highest floors among tight ends. He’s posted at least 56 yards receiving in every game played this year.
While he hasn’t found the end zone since Week 5, Gates continues to be an integral part of the offense, especially with wide receivers Keenan Allen out for the season and Malcolm Floyd already ruled out for the week.
Fellow tight end Ladarius Green is also a highly questionable/game-time decision and can’t be counted on for this week.
Despite the fact that the Chiefs give up the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends, Gates remains a must-start TE1 in all formats.
