Fantasy football advice, Week 11: Who to start/sit for Rams vs. Ravens
The Rams try to rise above the mediocrity that is half the league.
There are 16 of 32 teams in the NFL with either four or five wins this season. There is a whole host of mediocrity right now. The St. Louis Rams are one of that group, sitting in second place in the NFC West at 4-5, hoping for a late-season hot streak to propel them into the NFC Wild Card race. Their Week 11 opponent, the Baltimore Ravens, are not one of those four- or five-win teams, sitting at 2-7 and only not in last place in the AFC North because the Cleveland Browns are even worse.
This is the easiest game ever for someone recapping injuries: Neither team has any of their fantasy-relevant contributors on the weekly injury report. There. That was easy.
The Ravens will host the Rams Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET; let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
RAMS
Start ‘em: In six starts, Todd Gurley has at least 14 fantasy points in every game, 17.8 on average. He's a monster. ... The Rams' defense is good; Sunday's two-point game wrecked a six-week average of almost 11 fantasy points a game.
Start ‘em?: Week 10 was Tavon Austin's worst of the season. His usage should still say high, but he's risky. ... Greg Zuerlein has been above average this year, though not very above average.
Sit ‘em: The Rams are moving to Case Keenum at quarterback. He's, well, he's not Nick Foles, which might not be a good thing, but can't possibly be a bad one. Regardless, there's no fantasy usage here. ... Kenny Britt has had zero fantasy points four times in his last six games. ... Jared Cook has 24 fantasy points total on the season.
RAVENS
Start ‘em: Since Week 3, Justin Forsett has at least six fantasy points every game. Of course, his last two have been exactly six points, with nine in each of the two games before that. He's low-upside, but high-floor. ... Justin Tucker had by far his worst game of the season Sunday; one more and we might have to reconsider his ranking.
Start ‘em?: Even with his lack of weapons, Joe Flacco has still put up fantasy numbers most weeks. Against a strong defense, he's no guarantee, but he's interesting. ... It doesn't look like Kamar Aiken has any games like those Steve Smith Sr. put up in his repertoire, but he has a handful of points every week. ... Crockett Gillmore is a mediocre option overall, but every tight end seems mediocre, so he's a justifiable low-end starter. ... The Ravens' defense has struggled this year, though facing Case Keenum could be a nice salve.
Sit ‘em: It looks like Gillmore will outclass Maxx Williams for targets for the time being.
