Fantasy football advice, Week 11: Who to start/sit for Bills vs. Patriots on Monday night
An AFC East matchup finishes up Week 11.
Week 11 finishes up Monday with an AFC East matchup featuring the last undefeated team in the AFC, the New England Patriots, against the Buffalo Bills, who are 5-4 and holding on to a Wild Card berth.
Buffalo had running back Karlos Williams on the injury report briefly, though that was illness-related and reports are that he's fully healthy now. As for the Patriots, wide receiver Julian Edelman suffered a broken foot last week and is out for the next several weeks.
New England plays host to Buffalo Monday, with gametime scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
BILLS
Start ‘em: Since returning from injury, LeSean McCoy has looked like his old self. He's an easy RB1.
Start ‘em?: After looking really strong early in the season (19.6 fantasy points a game through Week 5), Tyrod Taylor has struggled since getting past his injury (13 per game since). He's more of a QB2 now. ... Even with McCoy performing, Karlos Williams is doing fine as well. He has at least nine fantasy points and one touchdown in all six games he's played this year. There's no guarantee that continues, but the chances that it does make Williams a flex option. ... Sammy Watkins has talent, but with a subpar passing quarterback and a long injury history, he's not much more than a flex option. ... Dan Carpenter has had bad stretches this year, but his goods are really good.
Sit ‘em: With McCoy and Watkins healthy, Robert Woods isn't likely to get a lot of looks. ... Charles Clay's early season success appears to be only a memory now. ... The Bills' defense is so-so, but you don't like any defense against New England.
PATRIOTS
Start ‘em: You don't need much help on most of this: Tom Brady, LeGarrette Blount, Rob Gronkowski, Stephen Gostkowski and the Patriots' defense are every-week must-starts. ... Danny Amendola should be, too, with Julian Edelman hurt, but he warrants his own sentence since so much has changed.
Start ‘em?: Amendola and Gronkowski are likely to be the biggest beneficiaries of Edelman's absence, but Brandon LaFell could see a bump as well. He's a mid-range flex.
Sit ‘em: Until we see something out of James White and/or Brandon Bolden, you can't use them.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: LeSean McCoy, Tom Brady, LeGarrette Blount, Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski, Stephen Gostkowski, New England defense
Start if you're desperate: Tyrod Taylor, Karlos Williams, Sammy Watkins, Dan Carpenter, Brandon LaFell
Bench: Robert Woods, Charles Clay, Buffalo defense, James White, Brandon Bolden
