Fantasy football projections, Week 11: Bills-Patriots featuring LeSean McCoy, Tom Brady and Danny Amendola
We break down the Week 11 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots.
Buffalo Bills
Could the Buffalo Bills be the team that finally beats the New England Patriots? Nobody knows the answer to that question, but we do know it’s going to be a tall task. If the team is going to compete offensively, running back LeSean McCoy is going to have to produce. The good news is, Shady has rushed for exactly 112 yards in each of the last two games, and last week against the New York Jets he chipped in 47 yards in the receiving game as well. He is going to be used early and often against the Patriots. Even if New England happens to build up a big lead, McCoy will catch his share of passes out of the backfield.
Another player that will have to be catching passes for Buffalo if they are to claim an upset victory on Monday is wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Watkins was almost completely shut out against the Jets last week. He only caught three passes for a measly 14 yards in the game. That’s easily his worst yardage total of the season. Fantasy owners have no reason to fret however, because Watkins will almost certainly put up numbers in trying to do his part to keep the Patriots close this week.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots escaped a close call against the New York Giants last week, but once again quarterback Tom Brady prevailed. He completed 26 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns. The Giants let the game slip away, but no matter what the circumstances have been this season, Brady just keeps the team rolling. The Pats remain undefeated because of him. A match up against a solid Buffalo defense is never ideal, but neither is benching one of the most legendary quarterbacks in the game.
One thing that will change this week for Brady is that he won’t have his most reliable receiver in the lineup. Julian Edelman is likely done for the remainder of the regular season with a foot injury. That means teammate Danny Amendola will fill the all-too-valuable slot receiver position for the Patriots. The move makes him an instant stud in PPR leagues despite the fact that Amendola has never been a truly regular part of the offense since joining the club from the St. Louis Rams. Wide receiver Brandon LaFell should also see his role increase, but not to the same degree as Amendola.
