Peyton Manning will miss at least 2 more weeks, fantasy value essentially gone
The veteran quarterback will miss more time after getting an independent specialist’s opinion. We break down the fantasy implications.

Manning met with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte on Monday regarding his partially torn plantar fascia, and the 39-year-old quarterback will be in a walking cast for the next week. While Manning misses time, Brock Osweiler will continue to start in his place after leading the team to a 17-15 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 11.
Fantasy impact: It’s gotten to the point where it’s fair to wonder if Manning will play another down with the Denver Broncos after a poor showing for the nine games preceding his benching, despite a 7-2 record. Manning’s nine touchdowns to 17 interceptions gave the Broncos an opportunity to assess what they have in Osweiler, who will be a free agent after the end of the 2015 season, and it appears that they will use that time to figure out what they’ve got in the 25-year-old.
Fantasy owners who haven’t dropped Manning can safely do so at this point in the season, since streaming options would be on par with the veteran’s production if he gets another chance to suit up in 2015. Osweiler is a high-variance QB2 for the rest of the season, although the weapons at his disposal give him a decent ceiling each week.
