Fantasy football projections, Week 12: Dolphins-Jets featuring Jarvis Landry, Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker
We break down the Week 12 matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets.
Miami Dolphins
Jarvis Landry only had four catches for 40 yards the last time the Dolphins played the Jets. Obviously it’s because he drew Darrelle Revis in coverage. Landry isn’t the type of boom-or-bust player that can post a huge yardage total on any given Sunday, but he can rack up the catches and has added value in leagues that reward kick return yards. Using him this week really depends on the format of the league, but then again the Dolphins don’t really have big-play receivers outside of Landry.
Another player that might be worth taking a gamble on is running back Lamar Miller. Yes, he only ran for 44 yards last week against the Dallas Cowboys, but he did average a healthy 6.3 yards per carry. Interim head coach Dan Campbell doesn’t seem to be in a rush to get him the football, but he’d better realize what an asset he has in the backfield quickly or the Dolphins’ season could be lost. Miller is worth a look in deeper leagues.
New York Jets
Wide receiver Eric Decker had a three-game scoring streak snapped last week against the Houston Texans. The good news is that Decker has been targeted 31 times over those same three games. That’s a lot of looks. He should continue to see his share against the Dolphins and it should be noted that he’s scored in all but two games this year. Crunch the numbers and the chances of him finding the end zone once again this week are pretty good. Consistency is valuable in head-to-head leagues, and few are more consistent than Decker right now.
Maybe teammate Brandon Marshall is one of those few. His yardage totals have been nothing special over the last three weeks, but Marshall has managed to score in all of those games. He, like Decker, has seven touchdowns on the season to go with 62 catches and exactly 800 yards. Marshall caught seven passes for 128 yards when these two teams played in Week 4. Similar numbers aren’t out of the realm of possibility this time around.
