Fantasy football projections, Week 12: Giants-Washington featuring Eli Manning, Odell Beckham Jr. and DeSean Jackson
We break down the Week 12 matchup between the New York Giants and Washington.
New York Giants
The Giants were left to lick their wounds heading into the bye week after dropping a winnable game to the New England Patriots two weeks ago. The good news for Eli Manning fantasy owners is that he put up some decent numbers trying to keep up with Tom Brady. Manning threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns in the game. The fact he didn’t turn the ball over certainly helped his cause in keeping the Patriots close. If Manning plays the same type of game against Washington, the Giants will win.
Hopefully it means fantasy owners of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will fare well, too. Beckham caught four passes for 104 yards against the Patriots in Week 10. His performance marked the third week in a row that Beckham has surpassed the 100-yard plateau and he’s found the end zone four times over that same stretch. He’s been targeted a whopping 38 times over the last three weeks. With volume like that, Beckham should scorch Washington in the nation’s capital on Sunday.
Washington
There’s simply no other way of putting it -- Washington was completely outmatched against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. If there was anything positive to take away from that game, it’s that wide receiver DeSean Jackson finally broke loose for his first score of the season. It was a 56-yard play in the first half that tied the game, and even though it was all Panthers from there, Jackson proved he’s back at full strength. A much friendlier matchup against the Giants should yield more fantasy points for one of the game’s most explosive players.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins certainly hopes that’s the case. Unlike Jackson, who still did okay, Cousins went to bed last Sunday with nightmares because the Panthers stuffed him repeatedly. Cousins threw for 207 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also lost two fumbles in the game. Cousins will need to be better against the Giants, without question. The good news is that only three teams have given up more fantasy points to quarterbacks then Tom Coughlin’s squad.
