Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman did not practice on Friday, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure, and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Devonta Freeman injury update: RB ruled out for fantasy owners
The Falcons will have to deploy Tevin Coleman in Week 12. We break down the fantasy implications.
This marks the third straight practice Freeman has missed since exiting Week 11's loss to the Indianapolis Colts with a concussion. Freeman's absence implies that he still has not cleared the NFL's concussion protocol, and that it isn't certain when that will occur.
Fantasy impact: It’s a crushing blow for fantasy owners vying for a playoff spot, as Freeman has put up high-end RB1 numbers since Week 3 and was acquired at a discount by fantasy owners across the board. Despite being bounced early from Week 11’s loss and having a minimal role in the season’s first two weeks, Freeman is sixth in the NFL in rushing yards, but won’t be a weapon the Falcons can deploy on Sunday.
Tevin Coleman will get the start once again, and will be a middling RB2 option against a capable Vikings defensive front.
