Charcandrick West injury update: Chiefs RB doesn’t practice all week, fantasy owners need other options
The injuries to running backs continue to pile up for the Kansas City Chiefs. We break down the fantasy implications.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Charcandrick West did not practice during the team's session on Friday, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.
Friday's absence marks a full week in which West has missed practice, as well as three consecutive absences since being pulled from Week 11's win over the San Diego Chargers because of a hamstring injury. In the likely event West is not activated on Sunday, Spencer Ware will start in his place.
Fantasy impact: Ware ran wild against a weak Chargers front seven, totaling 101 yards and finding the end zone twice against a defense that has allowed more fantasy points to opposing running backs than any other NFL team. It's a performance that was more than enough to earn the trust of Andy Reid in an expanded role, however, the Bills defense poses a far greater threat than the Chargers did.
Ware would see a heavy volume of touches, however, upside will be a bit capped against the Bills’ ninth-ranked rushing defense. Fantasy owners can consider Ware a high-floor RB2 as long as West sits.
