Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) has been ruled out for the team's Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Marshawn Lynch injury update: RB out for Seahawks, fantasy owners
The Seattle Seahawks running back has been ruled our for Week 12. We break down the fantasy implications.
Lynch underwent sports-hernia surgery Wednesday and is generally expected to miss 4-5 weeks. Impressive rookie Thomas Rawls will take over as the feature back in the meantime.
Fantasy impact: The undrafted rookie free agent Rawls is also dealing with a very minor knee issue but is fully expected to suit up. Rawls has been highly productive in the few spot starts he’s received this year.
In the four games he’s taken over for “Beastmode,” Rawls averaged 21.5 carries for 132.5 yards (6.2 YPC) and 0.75 touchdowns. He’s also coming off his most impressive performance of the season last week where he finished with a 30/209/1 line on the ground and a 3/46/1 line receiving.
Rawls doubled his season reception total last week and proved to be a more than capable receiver, averaging a robust 15.3 YPC. Despite a tough matchup in the Steelers who give up the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs, Rawls will be a no-brainer RB1.
