If you’re in the daily fantasy sports (DFS) game, you need as many tools as possible to help set your lineup. Sure, there are some things you’ll disagree with, but not acknowledging stats or information is usually a mistake. FanDuel has acquired NumberFire to help on some projections for NFL players for each week to give you another tool to help.
FanDuel Daily Fantasy projections, Week 9: Tight ends
It’s never easy to go with someone besides Gronk at tight end. Should fantasy owners consider someone else?

Here are the fantasy projections for Week 9:
Top tier
If Rob Gronkowski plays, he’s the top projected tight end this week. However, Antonio Gates is just a shade over one point behind him on projections, so he is certainly in play. The San Diego Chargers lost receiver Keenan Allen for the season, which means there are 10-14 targets up for grabs in the passing game this week against a sub-par Chicago Bears secondary.
Bargains
Sticking with the Chargers, we could see Ladarius Green become a bargain because the Chargers are likely to go with two-TE sets more often. He would only be a GPP play, though. Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett is a nice buy at just $5,400.
Elite players with sub-par matchups
The only player with a clear sub-par matchup is Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers. The Green Bay Packers are great at defending tight ends, so he’s not a great option even on the 7-0 Panthers.
