New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (foot) has been ruled out for the team’s Week 14 matchup against the Houston Texans. Edelman did not participate in practice Wednesday or Thursday before getting in a limited session Friday. Despite the small upgrade, Week 15 will be his first realistic chance at returning.
Julian Edelman injury update: WR ruled out for Patriots, fantasy owners
The New England Patriots’ wide receiver has been ruled out for Week 14. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: With Edelman out, Danny Amendola will hold onto his increased role for at least one more game. In his last three games, Amendola has averaged 8.7 receptions for 86 yards on 12 targets. While he’s never been much of an end zone threat, that kind of volume is more than enough to provide owners with some healthy production, especially in PPR formats. Houston presents a tougher test with their defense that allows the 10th-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, but it’s not a significant concern. Amendola could be in for even more looks if star tight end Rob Gronkowski misses the game too. He remains a WR2 until Edelman returns.
