We break down the Week 14 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Buffalo Bills
After being relatively quiet throughout much of the season, it appears that wide receiver Sammy Watkins has found his game and his fantasy numbers. Just over the last two weeks combined, Watkins has nine catches for 267 yards and three touchdowns. His hot play should continue against a Philadelphia Eagles secondary unit that has given up the second-most number of fantasy points to wide receivers in the NFL this season. Watkins could play a huge role in getting fantasy owners to the next round of the playoffs this week.
The same could be said for running back LeSean McCoy. McCoy of course has added reason to excel against the Eagles. Sunday’s game will be the first game he’s ever played against his former team. The added motivation plus the fact that McCoy has rushed for at least 100 yards in three of the last five games means he could be in for a big day in Week 14. Even if he struggles to run the ball, McCoy should be able to capitalize in the passing game, which makes him all the more threatening in PPR formats.
Philadelphia Eagles
Sam Bradford hasn’t exactly had the season he was hoping for when he first became a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. The fact that he went to college with running back DeMarco Murray has had little effect on the team’s ability to produce on the offensive side of the football. He just hasn’t been able to prove that he’s an elite NFL quarterback. That said, Bradford did a decent job against the New England Patriots last week. He only needed 120 passing yards and two touchdowns to beat the team and although he got a lot of help from his defense and special teams units against the Patriots, perhaps Bradford can build on his somewhat steady play this week.
If he does, then maybe wide receiver Jordan Matthews can find himself doing touchdown dances for the third week in a row. Like Bradford, Matthews hasn’t had the type of season people were hoping for when they drafted him, but the fact he has scored in each of the last two weeks should give owners some hope. Even though Buffalo boasts a solid defense, their secondary unit is actually fairly generous to wide receivers. Matthews could put up surprising totals this week.
