We break down the Week 14 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Indianapolis Colts
It doesn’t look like Andrew Luck is going to be able to play this week. He’s been limited to sideline tosses in practice. Having Matt Hasselbeck start again means wide receiver T.Y. Hilton’s numbers become hard to predict. He’s sandwiched six catches, 95 yards and two touchdowns in Week 12 between two awful performances. That’s not all simply attributed to the quarterback situation. The Colts’ offense has been up and down all year no matter who is throwing the football. Hopefully this is an up week for Hilton, and he’s done well against Jacksonville in the past. Earlier this season he caught seven passes for 67 yards against the Jags.
If Hilton struggles to connect with his quarterback, running back Frank Gore will become a key part of the game plan. Gore is hardly putting up high yardage totals in the running game these days, but with Ahmad Bradshaw sidelined, he’s picked up some fantasy points recently in the passing game. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, he only rushed for 45 yards but Gore was able to add 49 yards on three catches to go along with a touchdown.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Wide receiver Allen Robinson had arguably his best game of the season last week against the Tennessee Titans. Robinson caught 10 passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns. The effort gives him 15 catches for 209 yards and four scores in the last two weeks combined. He has either 100 receiving yards-plus or a touchdown in each of the last eight games. Robinson is the most consistent offensive player on the Jaguars’ roster. He should be a busy man against the Colts on Sunday.
Robinson’s numbers last week were largely the result of a career day from quarterback Blake Bortles. He threw five touchdown passes against the Titans and chipped in 24 completions for 322 passing yards. While the Titans are one of the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to defending opposing passing games, the Indianapolis Colts aren’t that much better. Bortles could be in for another big day this week.
