Fantasy football projections, Week 14: Seahawks-Ravens featuring Thomas Rawls, Russell Wilson and Kamar Aiken
We break down the Week 14 matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Baltimore Ravens.
Seattle Seahawks
Quarterback Russell Wilson wasn’t exactly a fantasy stud in the first half of the season. The last three games however have been a completely different story. Wilson has a whopping 11 touchdown passes over that stretch and just as impressively has managed to throw those touchdowns without tossing an interception. With Jimmy Graham out for the year and running back Marshawn Lynch hurt, Seattle needs the team’s best player to perform and Wilson has been spectacular.
Running back Thomas Rawls has been good too. He’s filling in for Lynch and doing a bang up job at it. Rawls has scored a rushing touchdown in each of the last three games to go with 391 yards. Combine his efforts with Wilson’s and all of a sudden the Seahawks are the most dangerous team in football. Consider that Seattle has a pretty weak remaining schedule before taking on the Arizona Cardinals in the season finale, who have already clinched a playoff berth and will likely rest players by then. Jumping on Seahawks might be a recipe for success for owners with championship aspirations.
Baltimore Ravens
Wide receiver Kamar Aiken isn’t exactly going to post monster numbers for his fantasy owners the rest of the season, but he’s a serviceable fantasy option if you need a receiver. The upside with Aiken lies in the fact that he gets targeted a lot as the team’s default No. 1 wideout. He’s seen the ball thrown his way at least 10 times in three of the last four games. Even with Matt Schaub throwing him the football, that number of looks alone makes Aiken worth consideration in deeper leagues for the fantasy postseason.
Aside from Aiken, the player to own in Baltimore is running back Javorius Allen. Allen led the team in rushing and receiving yards last week. He caught 12 of 13 passes thrown his way for 107 yards and chipped in 63 rushing yards. It’s hard to imagine that he would get 13 targets in the passing game week to week, but obviously the Ravens are going to have to throw the ball underneath a lot for the rest of the season given the weak receiving corps around the quarterback. Allen must be in the lineup in PPR formats.
