Fantasy football projections, Week 14: Patriots-Texans featuring Tom Brady, James White and DeAndre Hopkins

We break down the Week 14 matchup between the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans.

The Week 14 matchup between the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans features a juggernaut against a steadily improving opponent. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

New England Patriots

Could it be possible? Could the New England Patriots be in the midst of a slump? Odds are fantasy owners probably don’t care, because Tom Brady is still lighting up the stats sheet. He completed 29 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Although he did throw two interceptions, he also caught a 36-yard pass himself and rushed for a touchdown too. Brady can do it all. The Patriots should get back on track this week against the Texans, especially because J.J. Watt is going to have to play through a broken hand which will hamper Houston’s defense.

Brady will look to running back James White to keep the ball moving down the field. White only rushed for 4 yards on two carries against the Eagles last week, but he did catch 10 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. He is obviously more valuable in PPR leagues than any other format to say the least. White is doing a good job at pretending to be Dion Lewis in the backfield, and there’s no reason he won’t produce against Houston in Week 14.

Houston Texans

With Mr. Watt definitely set to play at less than 100 percent this week on the defensive side of the football, it’s obvious that if the Texans have any chance at an upset against the Patriots then wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is going to have to turn in a monster performance. The good news is that even if the Texans get blown out of the water, which is more likely, Hopkins will probably accumulate stats as the Texans go into overdrive to try to keep things respectable. Hopkins is a top receiver on any given Sunday, but this week could see him post absolutely massive numbers.

The same could be said for quarterback Brian Hoyer, although the Patriots are fairly good at limiting quarterbacks this season. The good news is that Hoyer has five touchdown passes in the two weeks since his return from injury. He’s definitely played better this year than in any year previous, so maybe fantasy owners in deeper leagues will take a flyer on a guy who’s going to have to keep up with Tom Brady this week.
