Fantasy football projections, Week 15: Bills-Washington featuring Sammy Watkins, LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson
We break down the Week 15 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Washington.
Buffalo Bills
Sammy Watkins is officially on fire. The wide receiver has touchdowns in three straight games, including a multi-score effort back in Week 12. Although the Philadelphia Eagles did limit him to five catches for 81 yards last week, Watkins was targeted 12 times and he still found the end zone. Washington represents an equally soft matchup compared to that of Philadelphia, so Watkins should see the ball a lot once again. Hopefully this time his fantasy owners can bank on more catches.
Doing battle alongside Watkins will be running back LeSean McCoy. McCoy has quietly put together seven straight games where he’s managed at least 100 yards from the line of scrimmage. Doing that against Washington should be a piece of cake. Sure, he has just one 100-yard rushing game in the last five weeks, but McCoy has added value in PPR leagues and Washington can’t stop anybody’s passing game. Shady could play a key role in helping fantasy owners advance to the next round of the postseason.
Washington
Fantasy owners who licked their chops at the thought of DeSean Jackson lighting up the Chicago Bears last week were severely disappointed. He managed to catch just two passes for 43 yards in a game that saw Washington score 24 points and walk away with the victory. He was targeted just four times in the contest so it wasn’t all his fault, but Jackson is going to have to be better against the Bills in order to deliver the fantasy value that owners expect at crunch time. He’s always been a boom-or-bust player and it’s time to deliver the boom this week.
Part of the reason he wasn’t able to deliver last week is because Washington had more success throwing the ball to tight end Jordan Reed. Reed caught all nine passes thrown his way against the Bears for 120 yards and a touchdown. Nobody doubts his talent, but Reed isn’t exactly benefiting from a top-notch quarterback under center. Buffalo has been pretty tough against tight ends this year, so even though Washington’s tight end is coming off of a big game, he may not be able to pull it off two weeks in a row. Only time will tell.
